I got a somewhat frantic call today from a relative asking me why they had hundreds of porn and other unrelated links embedded in the HTML source of their business web site.
At first, they thought it might have been the design company that did it, or maybe an inside job by someone in the company. I thought it was probably just a forum web site that got hit by some bot or whatever...
So I curiously headed over to their site, did a view source, and sure enough, behold the hundreds of random links, all with a similar "/alenaprosti=343" string after the seemingly innocent web site address such as bobshotdogs.com or sallysdaycare.com - So I went to bob and sally's sites and did a view source, sure enough they too had a bunch of junk links embedded in their source!
It seemed like all the sites were hosted by Network Solutions after doing a quick WHOIS on a bunch of the domains.
If you're web site is hosted by Network Solutions, I suggest you do a view source to see if you're web site isn't infected with this alenaprosti virus, and if it is, contact netsol immediately and ask them how to go about getting rid of it!
If you do call and get an answer, post it here, I'm interested in knowing what the deal is.

Hey... glad it helped, but I have a feeling plenty of sites out there are still affected by this and folks simply don't notice. Network Solutions might be avoiding it, I'm assuming it's a messy clean up for them. Feel free to comment NS.
